ISLANDS OF ABU MUSA AND GREATER AND LESSER TUNB

That this House welcomes the strong and historic ties between the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), where some 120,000 British citizens currently reside; notes the UAE's continued territorial claims over the islands of Abu Musa and Greater and Lesser Tunb in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz; commends the work of the Federal National Council in bringing this issue to international attention; believes that the UAE should be encouraged to press its case in either bilateral negotiations with Iran or through the International Court of Justice; and calls on the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs to support the UAE in the resolution of this important issue.
