TRANSFER OF UNDERTAKINGS (PROTECTION OF EMPLOYMENT) REGULATIONS 2006 (S.I., 2006, No. 246)

That this House notes that the Transfer of Undertakings (Protection of Employment) Regulations 2006 (S.I., 2006, No. 246) (TUPE legislation) generate uncertainty in many areas including local authority services contracts; further notes the difficulties experienced by small businesses upon commencement of new contracts where TUPE legislation may require that they hire an existing workforce; congratulates the Government on its action on workers' rights; and calls on the Government and Her Majesty's Opposition to bring forward proposals to clarify and simplify TUPE legislation, with an added emphasis on protecting both workers and small businesses.
