VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND GIRLS OVERSEAS

That this House welcomes the creation of a Ministerial role to co-ordinate the work of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, the Department for International Development and the Ministry of Defence to tackle violence against women overseas; congratulates Action Aid and the Gender and Development Network on the success of its campaign for the creation of such a role; recognises that violence against women and girls is a violation of human rights and a serious barrier to economic and social development; and calls on all parties to support the continuation of this Ministerial role and ensure it is adequately resourced to take forward this important work.
