Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Tom Brake (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 23 March 2010, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 26 members in total.
CAMPAIGN FOR A STATUTORY DUTY OF CANDOUR IN HEALTHCARE
That this House notes that the Care Quality Commission (Registration) Regulations 2009 were introduced without debate and included a statutory duty to report serious patient safety incidents to the National Patient Safety Agency but no corresponding duty to be open and honest with patients or their families about the same incident; and calls for the introduction of a statutory duty of candour with patients and relatives.
