Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ian McCartney (Labour), on Tuesday, 4 February 1992, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 39 members in total.

SAMUEL THOMAS ANTONELLI AND LEASEHOLD REFORM

That this House congratulates the residents of Crescent Drive, Prestwich, Greater Manchester, on their brave stand against the excesses and brutish behaviour of ground landlord Samuel Thomas Antonelli and others; particularly applauds the contribution made to this cause by Peter Williamson, Gwenda Wilkinson and David Senator; regrets, however, that their task has been made more difficult because of the unwillingness of the Government to address the problems of long lease/low rent arrangements, which have been brought to the attention of the House on many occasions by honourable Labour Members; and calls upon the Government, if it is serious about charters for citizens, to review the leasehold legislation which has been clearly demonstrated to be not working in the interests of home owners.
