PROPOSED CAPITAL FUND FOR RENEWABLES TECHNOLOGY IN GOVERNMENT PROPERTY

That this House supports continued investment in photovoltaic cells, solar panels and other energy-saving renewable technologies; recommends that the Government considers the merits of establishing a capital fund for loans to managers of Government properties for expenditure on such technologies; further recommends that the consequent savings from reduced energy bills be used to repay the loan; and notes that the net overall cost to the Exchequer would be nil, and that the overall cost to the public purse of managing such properties would be reduced.
