Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Mike Weir (Scottish National Party), on Tuesday, 18 January 2011, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 14 members in total.
CLOSURE OF LOCAL DRIVING TEST CENTRES
That this House notes with concern the programme of closures of local driving test centres, including Arbroath and Forfar in Angus constituency; further notes that there have been 22 such closures in the last two years and that many such closures are being undertaken without any consultation with those directly affected or the local community; believes such closures are against the Government's own announced policy of localism; and calls on the Department for Transport to suspend immediately any such closures and to instruct the Driving Standards Agency that no closures may be undertaken without a full public consultation.
