Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Stephen Williams (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 7 March 2011, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 31 members in total.
GIVING RBS AND LLOYDS TO THE PEOPLE CAMPAIGN
That this House welcomes the launch of Getting Your Share: Giving the Banks back to the People, written by the hon. Member for Bristol West, in conjunction with Portman Capital and published by Centre Forum; believes that the British public will not accept a return to business as usual in terms of bank ownerships and practices; urges the Government to keep this in mind when it chooses to divest itself of the shares they currently own in RBS and Lloyds; and hopes they will look seriously at the idea of a public distribution which will empower the public and enable them to profit from future growth whilst ensuring that the Treasury gets its money back from the bailout.
