Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ian Swales (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 5 July 2011, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 45 members in total.
PREMIUM RATE TELEPHONE NUMBERS
That this House condemns the use of premium rate telephone numbers for job centres and other public services; notes that the use of 0845 and 0870 numbers significantly increases the cost to the caller; and urges the Government to provide an alternative landline number for those with pre-paid mobile or landline telephones.
Amendments
The Early day motion has received 2 amendments.

- 2035A2
- at end add `and further urges larger private companies always to provide a geographical number as well as email for the purposes of sales and customer relations, which are often found by searching for such alternative numbers at the saynoto0870.com website.'.
