Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor John Pugh (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 19 March 2012, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 12 members in total.
REGIONAL PAY FOR HON. MEMBERS
That this House, while recognising that some regions of high unemployment are overly dependent on the public sector, struggles to understand how paying public servants less in those regions will fuel demand in those regions, help to attract the best talent to public service in those areas or reward fairly comparable effort; but believes that those hon. Members persuaded of the dubious theory that public sector remuneration crowds out private investment should draw the logical conclusion and lobby forthwith for lower pay for those representing constituencies in such regions.
