Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Beith (Liberal Democrat), on Tuesday, 6 November 2012, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 4 members in total.
WIND FARMS AND PROPERTY VALUES
That this House notes that, whilst there is widespread agreement that wind technology has a part to play in reducing the UK's carbon dioxide emissions, there is genuine concern from many that the value of properties in proximity to wind turbines will reduce; further notes that only limited research has been carried out into the impact of wind turbine proximity on property values and that as a result no compensation can be quantified for owners of property in proximity to wind turbines; and calls on the Government to commission an independent study on the impact of wind turbines on the value of nearby commercial and residential properties.
