CONCESSIONARY FARES IN TYNE & WEAR
That this House condemns without reservation the refusal of the Secretary of State for Transport to meet Tyne and Wear honourable Members to discuss the policies of Her Majesty's Government which have led to the ending of free travel in Tyne and Wear for pensioners; recognises the cynical nature of a Government which on the one hand continues to tighten the screw on local authority finances and on the other puts the blame on those same local authorities for the consequential reductions in services; and looks forward to the early return of a Labour Government which will revive local decision-making and local democracy.
