Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alan Meale (Labour), on Wednesday, 25 November 2015, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 9 members in total.
WALKING AND CYCLING
That this House recalls the Government's manifesto commitment at the last general election to double the number of journeys taken by citizens using bicycles and to encourage 55 per cent of all children to walk to school by 2025; notes that its Local Sustainable Transport Fund, currently its largest investment in walking and cycling, ends in March 2016; and calls on the Government to act urgently to guarantee the funding of this mechanism which will continue to deliver improved health, increased confidence and greater independence, whilst reducing traffic congestion in our communities.
