Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Hywel Williams (Plaid Cymru), on Wednesday, 30 November 2016, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 16 members in total.

HISTORIC WALES

That this House notes the decision by the Welsh Government Cabinet Secretary for the Economy and Infrastructure to create a steering group to explore options for greater collaboration between Wales' heritage organisations, including Amgueddfa Cymru, the National Library of Wales, the Royal Commission and Cadw; agrees that the announcement will have significant implications for the organisations in question; further notes that potential changes will need to be carefully considered before being consulted on with the public and the cultural sector in Wales and beyond; recognises that any outcome must respect the individual identity, integrity and core purpose of each organisation; further agrees that Wales needs strong national institutions to develop an understanding by its citizens of their identity and place in the world; and calls on the House to oppose and to campaign against any plans which undermine the independence of Welsh institutions.
