Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Hoyle (Labour), on Wednesday, 3 November 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 39 members in total.

COST OF BARONESS THATCHER'S BOOKSIGNING

That this House condemns the ??250,000 cost to the taxpayers of protecting Lady Thatcher during her signing tour, especially since her visit to Chester resulted in a ??26,000 bill to Cheshire constabulary because details of her visit were revealed six weeks ahead; believes this is adding insult to injury to a police force which is already reeling from a massive bill of ??600,000 to ??1,000,000 for investigations following the Warrington bombing outrage which came from an already severely stretched budget; and calls upon Baroness Thatcher's publishers to repay the ??250,000 security bill from the vast profits made by these public appearances.
