DAME LORNA MUIRHEAD
That this House congratulates Dame Lorna Muirhead on her tenure as Lord Lieutenant of Merseyside and wishes her well on her retirement; records its thanks to her on behalf of the people of Merseyside for 12 years of service as Her Majesty's Lord Lieutenant; notes her contribution to the civic life of the county and support for countless voluntary organisations and recognises her work for over 40 years as a midwife in the city of Liverpool; pays tribute to the unwavering support given by her husband Ronald as Dame Lorna carried out her duties with dignity, authority and a pride in the county of Merseyside and its people, and with a strong sense of humour; wishes both Dame Loma and Ronald a long and happy retirement; and welcomes the appointment of her successor Mark Blundell as Lord Lieutenant and wishes him well in the post.
