Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Tim Farron (Liberal Democrat), on Wednesday, 13 December 2017, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 23 members in total.

BREXIT AND ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH

That this House recognises the need to maintain and build on food, environmental and public health standards in the UK; notes that these standards have been substantially driven by the EU, and that the UK’s future departure from the EU raises significant questions on the maintenance of these standards in the long term; and calls on the Government to work with environmental health professionals and ensure that when legislation is repatriated into UK law following Brexit, environmental and public health standards are maintained and where necessary strengthened, and not undermined by new international trade agreements.
