Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ian Mearns (Labour), on Wednesday, 14 March 2018, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 30 members in total.

BACK PAY FOR SLEEP-IN RESIDENTIAL WORKERS CRISIS

That this House notes the back pay crisis facing sleep-in workers in the social care sector has yet to be resolved and mandates immediate attention with many service providers facing a huge liability which could strip them of resources for vital support services offered by charity providers or render them susceptible to closure, through no fault of their own, which would greatly impact vulnerable people who rely on care services; acknowledges that a solution to the problem has yet to be formulated that addresses both the back pay crisis and social care provision moving forward; and urges the Government to take responsibility, and fully fund all sleep-in back pay.
