Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Gregory Campbell (Democratic Unionist Party), on Tuesday, 22 May 2018, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 7 members in total.
THE ULSTER SCOTS MAKING OF AMERICA
That this House notes that 2018 marks the 300th anniversary of one of the most significant of the early waves of Ulster Scots emigration to the emerging US; further notes that many of the first pioneers and Presidents came from this stock, including Presidents Andrew Jackson and James Knox Polk, Sam Houston, Davy Crockett and others, including many of those who helped fashion and build what was to become the most powerful nation on Earth; and expresses the hope that President Trump's forthcoming visit to the UK will build on these historic links.
