CHRISTMAS BONUS FOR WELFARE RECIPIENTS

That this House calls upon the Government to reconsider its decision not to award universal credit recipients a one-off Christmas bonus which is given to the recipients of 19 other welfare payments; considers that the Government should uprate the Christmas bonus payment ahead of December 2019 which remains at a one-off payment of £10 and has never been uprated since its introduction in 1972; and calls on the Government to commit to maintaining the Christmas bonus into the long-term future for all welfare recipients.
