ROLL-OUT OF PAVA ACROSS THE PUBLIC ADULT MALE PRISON ESTATE

That this House is dismayed by the Government's decision to delay for up to 24 months, the roll-out of Pava pepper spray across the public adult male prison estate; agrees with the Prison Officers Association that with violence against staff at record levels and rising at a record rate, such a delay puts officers' lives at risk; and calls on the Government to issue officers across the entire prison estate with this vital protective equipment as a matter of urgency.
