Disability Income Pledge
That this House congratulates the Disability Benfits Consortium on its three highly successful rallies held on 20th October in Glasgow, Manchester and London; notes that over four million disabled adults live in households with no wage earners and are dependent solely on benefits, that unemployment among disabled men and women is over 60 per cent. and that the number of disabled people living below the poverty line has increased six fold since 1979; and urges all Right honourable Members to sign the pledge in support of a disability income.
