DECLARATION OF CLIMATE EMERGENCY IN NORTH LANARKSHIRE

That this House welcomes the declaration of a climate emergency in North Lanarkshire; notes North Lanarkshire Council’s ambitious target to reduce its carbon emissions to zero by 2030; urges both the UK and Scottish Governments to adopt more ambitious targets to achieve net-zero emissions; and calls on both the UK and Scottish Governments to provide the resources and finances necessary for local authorities to act on climate change.
