Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor David Drew (Labour and Co-operative Party), on Tuesday, 3 September 2019, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 20 members in total.

WORLD SCHOOL MILK DAY

That this House notes that a recent academic review found that drinking milk supports immediate and lasting dental and bone health in five to eleven year old children and that it could have a positive effect on preventing childhood obesity; further notes that the same research showed that milk can support children's cognition, particularly when served as a mid-morning snack and that its consumption staves off hunger, so helping children from all socioeconomic backgrounds to perform to their best academically at a time of reputedly rising levels of child hunger; looks forward to celebrating World School Milk Day on 25 September 2019; and invites the Secretary of State for Education to take that opportunity to confirm his commitment to continuing the current school milk schemes which have made such a major contribution to the improvement and maintenance of children's health.
