Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Alan Meale (Labour), on Monday, 19 July 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 45 members in total.
MEDICINES BY MAIL ORDER
That this House is concerned that public safety may be at risk because of a proposed European Directive about distance selling which is seeking to allow people to buy medicines by mail order; believes that considerable dangers may be created by such measures which could lead to prescription only controls being flouted between countries and with doctors and other practitioners being found unaware of their patients' purchases of medicines; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to ensure that a general prohibition on mail order distribution should apply to all products classified as medicinal in all EC member states.
