Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jack Thompson (Labour), on Thursday, 22 July 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 56 members in total.
NORTHUMBERLAND WOMENS AID REFUGE
That this House expresses its deep concern that the refuge for women and children run by Northumberland Women's Aid is threatened with closure because of lack of funds; believes victims of domestic violence should receive the support and temporary accommodation not provided anywhere else in the county; notes that it has helped 383 women and 757 children at serious risk; and urges that it be recognized by the Government as a community service which should be financially supported.
