Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Rooker (Labour), on Tuesday, 27 July 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 9 members in total.
WHITEDRAKE LTD
That this House is concerned at the business practices of Whitedrake Ltd; a wholly owned subsidiary of Exactspot Ltd, dealers in property, and director Mr R.H. Hemsley-Faulconbridge, in respect of the sale of freeholds to owner occupiers in north Birmingham which appears to amount to blackmail; notes that Whitedrake Ltd have been known to demand sums five times in excess of market valuations and then refuse to even negotiate after notices have been served under the Leasehold Reform Act 1967; is concerned that Whitedrake Ltd and its solicitors, Herbert Wilkes, of Church Street, Birmingham, have disputed the rights of leaseholders to purchase on flimsy technical grounds which are then discounted when application is made at great expense to the county courts by the owner occupiers; and calls upon the Law Society to inquire into the professional status of Mr Hemsley-Faulconbridge, who acts as a consultant solicitor to Herbert Wilkes, and the Department of Trade and Industry to look into other companies of which Mr Hemsley-Faulconbridge is a director, such as Factorset Ltd and Kinmarr Ltd, which have failed to deposit accounts with Companies House as required by law.
