WESTWOOD HOSPITAL, BRADFORD

That this House places on record the devoted care and attention by the staff at Westwood Hospital for the patients which they served over many years: regrets that the hospital is closing in order to sell off the green and pleasant site; further regrets that several million pounds has been spent on various private community homes; believes that this money could have provided a village community on Westwood site making use of existing facilities; but calls on the Bradford Health Authority to retain the site at least in part as a community for mentally handicapped people as promised at the inquiry on planning permission for housing development and states that failure to do so will be a bitter betrayal of the most vulnerable section of the community.
