Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor John Ward (Conservative), on Tuesday, 20 April 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 46 members in total.
150th ANNIVERSARY OF BUILDING MAGAZINE
That this House congratulates Building magazine on the 150th Anniversary of its publication; notes that its first editor, Joseph Hansom, was also the founder of the Hansom cab; recalls the long and distinguised editorship of George Godwin from 1844 to 1883, during which the magazine played a major part in raising public awareness of architectural standards, including the rebuilding of the Palace of Westminster, and of the need to improve social conditions; welcomes the continuing leadership which the magazine still gives in accurate reporting and informed debate about all matters relating to the construction industry; and wishes it every success for the next 150 years.
