CRUELTY TO ANIMALS AT LIVESTOCK MARKETS
That this House congratulates the organisation, Animal Aid, on its investigations into practices in United Kingdom livestock markets; is apalled at its findings of 10 day old calves taken from their mothers, forced up and down loading bays and made to parade around sales rings whilst being prodded with sticks, and of pigs and sheep transported for long hours without access to food or water and crammed so tight that they can hardly breathe; and calls upon Her Majesty's Government to take urgent action to stop these breaches of the Welfare of Animals at Markets Order 1990.
