Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Keith Vaz (Labour), on Thursday, 29 April 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 40 members in total.

COUNCILLOR PAT BURKE

That this House congratulates the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Councillor Pat Burke, on his decision to join the Labour Party after years of allegiance to the Conservatives; notes his view that his Christian beliefs and principles had left him uneasy with recent Conservative political trends, namely increasing council house rents and the sale of council houses; and expects and hopes he will be followed into the Labour Party by many more former colleagues.
