Independence day of Bangladesh

That this House sends its well wishes to those celebrating the independence day of Bangladesh on 26 March 2024 to commemorate the country's declaration of independence from Pakistan in the early hours of 26 March 1971; observes that this year marks the 53rd day of independence; notes that Rochdale has a sizeable community of Bangladeshi descent and that there are so many people who are making great contributions in all walks of life from business to politics, sports and education; further notes that Rochdale is linked with Sylhet in Bangladesh through a twinning friendship link; thanks those that have organised a flag raising ceremony outside Number One Riverside in Rochdale; and wishes all a very happy independence day and Ramadan Mubarak.
