Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Lord Bilston (Labour), on Wednesday, 3 February 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 100 members in total.
DISCRETIONARY AWARDS
That this House expresses concern that the current arrangements for discretionary awards distributed by local education authorities provide neither consistency nor coherence; and supports the Tertiary Colleges Association in drawing to the attention of the Secretary of State for Education the considerable anomalies in application which now exist and seeks a change in the regulations which will enable a basic entitlement to support to all post-16 students whether in full or part-time study.
