Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Bell Ribeiro-Addy (Labour), on Wednesday, 12 November 2025, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 14 members in total.
Accommodation standards for people seeking asylum
That this House notes with serious concern the unsafe and undignified conditions in temporary accommodation for people seeking asylum, including inedible food, lack of privacy, and sites being targeted during anti-refugee protests; recognises that the current system is dehumanising and represents poor value for public money; welcomes the Safe Accommodation Checklist developed by people with lived experience working with Conversation Over Borders, which sets out practical standards based on reducing isolation and prioritising safety, ensuring meaningful resident involvement in decision-making, and respecting autonomy over daily life; and calls upon the Government to adopt the Safe Accommodation Checklist as minimum standards for all temporary asylum accommodation.
