Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Cameron Thomas (Liberal Democrat), on Monday, 23 February 2026, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 24 members in total.
High street bank closures
That this House registers its concern that Lloyds Banking Group plans to close 95 local branches this year, including in Tewkesbury; acknowledges the value of high street banks to local communities, particularly the elderly and those without easy access to public transport; recognises the harm bank closures have on rural communities and small towns, where they may be the only in-person banking facilities available within a reasonable distance; and calls on the Government to increase support for community banking hubs and protect access to cash in rural areas.
