Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Shockat Adam (Independent (affiliation)), on Monday, 16 March 2026, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 4 members in total.
Sight loss charity funding
That this House commends the work of Vista, a 160-year-old charity supporting over 21,000 blind and visually impaired people annually, through peer support groups, rehabilitation services, accessible technology support, youth activities and more; expresses serious concern about Vista’s current funding crisis and risk of closure should £2 million not be raised by the end of March 2026; recognises the devastating impact such a loss would have on service users, their families and carers; further recognises the significant strain that the closure would place on University Hospital Leicester, social care and community services; and calls upon the Government to urgently engage with local authorities to secure the future of Vista and safeguard its essential services for visually impaired people across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
