Boroughmuir High School fundraising efforts for PAPYRUS

That this House commends the staff, pupils and wider community of Boroughmuir High School for their outstanding fundraising efforts in support of PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Suicide through participation in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival; notes that the fundraising campaign was organised in memory of Zac Khalifah, a much-valued member of the school community; further notes that PAPYRUS is the national charity dedicated to the prevention of young suicide and provides confidential support and advice through its HOPELINE247 service; recognises the devastating impact of suicide as the leading cause of death among young people under the age of 35 in the UK; congratulates all those involved in raising the remarkable total of £17,608, which will contribute towards potentially life-saving support for vulnerable young people; and pays tribute to the compassion, solidarity and community spirit shown in Zac’s memory.
