Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Jon Trickett (Labour), on Wednesday, 3 June 2026, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 4 members in total.

School uniforms

That this House is deeply concerned by the rates of poverty and deprivation in the UK; notes that the 50 richest families now own more wealth than 34 million people in Britain; highlights the extreme strain on family finances and the detrimental impact this is having on school children; commends the work being done by volunteers at school uniform banks in Normanton and Hemsworth constituency who are helping to provide clothes to families who otherwise cannot afford them; further notes with disappointment the cuts to the school uniform support fund by the new leadership of Wakefield Council; highlights the importance of universality in providing assistance with school uniforms; and urges the council to rethink this concerning misstep.
