Newton Abbot Rugby Football Club

That this House recognises the outstanding contribution of Newton Abbot Rugby Football Club to the communities of Newton Abbot, Teignbridge and South Devon; notes that the club is the largest grassroots rugby club in Devon, supporting almost 500 junior players alongside thriving men's and women's senior teams; commends its commitment to promoting participation in sport, healthy lifestyles and community wellbeing; further recognises the club's extensive charitable and community work, including support for families experiencing hardship through the provision of food hampers, support for mental health initiatives including Andy's Man Club and other wellbeing groups, fundraising for local charities, and the provision of facilities for schools, community organisations, emergency services and local sporting groups; pays tribute to the staff, volunteers, coaches, officials and supporters whose dedication underpins the club's success; acknowledges the importance of grassroots sports clubs in strengthening community cohesion and tackling social isolation; further notes the challenges faced by community rugby clubs in securing sustainable funding, facilities and long-term investment; and calls on governing bodies and relevant organisations to work more closely with grassroots clubs to ensure they are properly supported and able to continue delivering opportunities and community benefit for future generations.
