Eisteddfod y Garreg Las 2026

That this House commends the organisers of the 2026 National Eisteddfod of Wales, held this year in Llantwd in the heart of north Pembrokeshire as Eisteddfod y Garreg Las; notes that this year’s Eisteddfod takes place in the area famed for its striking local bluestone; highlights that the catchment area stretches across the three stunning regions of Pembrokeshire, south Ceredigion, and west Carmarthenshire; further notes that this year’s festival marks an especially important milestone of being the 850th anniversary of the very first Eisteddfod, which was held in nearby Cardigan Castle in 1176; acknowledges that the annual festival is Wales’ largest celebration of Welsh language and culture with 75,000 people expected to attend the festival which will include more than 1,000 events, 250 stalls, and competitions including singing, dancing and performances by about 70 choirs; congratulates the organisers and local volunteers for all their hard work in fundraising and organising this important celebration of Welsh culture; and wishes the very best to all those competing during the week.
