Yoker Athletic Football Club's 140th anniversary

That this House congratulates Yoker Athletic Football Club on its 140th anniversary, marking an extraordinary milestone since the club’s formation in 1886; notes that while the club represents the Yoker area in the west of Glasgow, it has for most of its history been based at Holm Park in Clydebank; celebrates the club’s enduring place at the heart of the local community, having provided generations of people with opportunities for participation, recreation, and social connection through football; acknowledges the important role grassroots clubs such as Yoker Athletic play in promoting participation in sport, community cohesion, wellbeing and local pride; further notes the club’s proud competitive history, including winning the Scottish Junior Cup in the 1932/33 season, finishing as finalists in 1935/36, and again most recently reaching the final in the 2021/22 season; recognises that the club currently competes in the West of Scotland Football League Division 2, with ambitions for future progress; thanks the volunteers, players, staff, and supporters for their dedication; and commends Yoker Athletic Football Club for 140 years of service to its community, wishing all involved continued success in the years ahead.
