Maurice the toll booth cat
That this House notes the importance of Maurice the Whitchurch Bridge toll booth cat to the community; further notes that Maurice was recent hurt in a hit and run collision by a car; also notes the distressing impact of this collision and the subsequent confrontation for the toll booth staff; notes that currently there is no legislation to require drivers to report a collision with a cat; further notes that legislation exists for other animals including dogs, horses and sheep; also notes the compassion and generosity of the local residents who have come together to support and fund Maurice’s healthy recovery; notes their determination to find Maurice after the incident; and wishes that Maurice makes a complete recovery so that he can continue to be a guardian of the toll bridge.
