Land’s End to John O’ Groats fundraising cycle challenge

That this House wishes Sean Grimes and Chris Parry from Drumchapel in Glasgow West success as they prepare to undertake one of the UK’s most iconic endurance cycling challenges, riding from Land's End to John o' Groats, a journey of approximately 980 miles over 12 to 14 days, commencing on 14 September 2026; recognises the extraordinary physical and mental commitment required to complete such an undertaking; welcomes the support they have received from Drumchapel Cycle Hub and the wider community as they prepare for the challenge; further welcomes the launch of their fundraising appeal in aid of two causes that are deeply personal to them, namely Men's Mental Health initiatives, which work to raise awareness, challenge stigma, encourage open conversations and improve access to support for men experiencing mental health difficulties, and Diabetes Scotland, which funds pioneering research, campaigns for better care, and provides trusted information and support to those living with diabetes; notes that Sean is undertaking this challenge in memory of his father, who sadly passed away following complications arising from diabetes; acknowledges the importance of raising awareness of both men's mental health and diabetes and the impact these issues have on individuals, families and communities; commends Sean and Chris for turning their own personal experiences into a positive campaign to inspire others and encourages the public to support their fundraising efforts; and wishes Sean and Chris a safe, successful and rewarding journey as they prepare to set out.
