FORMER YUGOSLAVIAN REPUBLIC OF MACEDONIA

That this House supports the initiative of Her Majesty's Government together with the governments of France and Spain in promoting a proposal for the admission of the former Yugoslavian Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) to the United Nations on the following terms (a) its temporary admission under the provisional name of the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia to be followed by a final settlement of the issue of the name of the new state through a binding mechanism, as will be set up by the UN Security Council and (b) the establishment of measures to build confidence between the FYROM and neighbouring states that no one state presents or contemplates a threat to the security nor to the integrity nor to the cultural heritage of another; and calls upon the government of the FYROM to co-operate with the UN Security Council towards a speedy resolution of these issues.
