Passing of global icon and philanthropist Dolly Parton
That this House expresses profound sadness at the death of country singer Dolly Parton; highlights the contribution her songs made to the creative industry especially in the late 1960s, early 1970s; notes the hit song I will Always Love You which means so much to so many people across the United Kingdom due to its beautiful sentiment; further highlights Dolly Parton's humility as she rose to the heights of fame from her roots in rural Appalachia; commends the charitable work she undertook to uplift those in need, particularly through her pioneering literacy programme the Imagination Library which provided free books to millions of children worldwide; and further expresses sincere condolences to the Parton family circle and all of those who are feeling her loss so keenly knowing that Dolly is reunited with her beloved husband in heaven.
