Lenny Mackay raises £1,800 for Muscular Dystrophy UK

That this House congratulates eight-year-old Lenny Mackay of Tingwall, Shetland, for raising an incredible £1,800 for Muscular Dystrophy UK in support of his friend Phoebe Polson; notes that Lenny cycled 16 miles from his home in Tingwall to the Burra Bridge and back to raise money for the charity; recognises that Lenny was inspired to take on the challenge after seeing the impact that Facioscapulohumeral muscular dystrophy (FSHD) has had on Phoebe, who was diagnosed with the rare condition aged five; further notes that Lenny originally set himself a fundraising target of £150 but went on to raise more than ten times this; commends Lenny for completing the challenging cycle despite blustery conditions and for being joined by school friends during the final part of his journey; further recognises the generosity of everyone who supported his remarkable fundraising efforts; acknowledges that the money raised will contribute towards research into FSHD as well as supporting Phoebe’s future welfare needs through the Muscular Dystrophy UK Phenomenal Phoebe fund; praises Lenny for his kindness, determination and commitment to helping his friend and others living with similar conditions; and wishes young Lenny and Phoebe all the very best in the future.
