Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Brian Leishman (Labour), on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 10 members in total.
BBC Scotland TV's reductions to services
That this House expresses concern that the BBC plans to close its Scotland linear TV station as part of cost saving measures; believes that moving the service to iPlayer will make it less accessible; notes with concern that the News at Seven programme will close; further believes the decision should be reversed as it will weaken democracy due to the reduction in accurate and timely reporting of Scottish current affairs; further notes with concern that this is another change to broadcasting in Scotland after Ofcom allowed STV North to close; and also believes that this is an alarming direction of travel which sees jobs lost and Scottish broadcasting diminished.
