Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Piara S Khabra (Labour), on Tuesday, 19 January 1993, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 61 members in total.
RENAMING OF BLAIR PEACH FIRST AND MIDDLE SCHOOLS,SOUTHALL
That this House notes with concern the plans by the Education sub-Committee of Ealing Council to remove the name of Blair Peach from the first and middle schools in Southall; remembers that Blair Peach died in a mass protest against the National Front in Southall, West London; believes that if these plans go ahead Ealing Council will have produced a provocative insult to all those who are opposed to the current growth of Nazism in Europe or who have suffered as a result of it; and welcomes any attempt to ensure that Blair Peach is kept as the name of the schools in Ealing.
