ECGD AND ARMING IRAQ

That this House condemns the increasing practice of Ministers in replying to parliamentary questions in the form of personal letters to honourable and Right honourable Members; deplores the refusal of the President of the Board of Trade to publish in the Official Report his letter on the financing of defence equipment to Iraq by the Export Credits Guarantee Department to the honourable Member for Birmingham, Selly Oak, as set out in his Answer to the honourable Member for Blaenau, Gwent, Official Report, 19th January, column 158; declares the ??54.3m guarantees made available to Iraq for weapons by the ECGD to be a disgrace; and demands a full public explanation by the Government.
