Early day motion tabled by primary sponsor Ian McCartney (Labour), on Wednesday, 11 November 1992, in the House of Commons. It is signed by 45 members in total.
SOUTH AFRICAN RUGBY UNION BAN ON AMATEUR RUGBY LEAGUE
That this House notes with extreme concern the decision of the South African Rugby Football Union to exclude persons who play amateur rugby league from also playing rugby union; believes that this policy is a clear breach of the previous international agreement between both sports; and calls upon the International Rugby Football Board to instruct the South African Rugby Football Union to immediately end this totally unacceptable discrimination, which is harmful to the development of international sporting relationships.
